I am the original creator of the One Day Piano Workshop. Back in the day before the proliferation of the Internet I traveled extensively to college campuses in the United States and some parts of Canada to teach my closely guarded method. Over the span of 30 years I have taught 1,652 workshops and 25,129 students how to play piano in a three hour workshop.

But it didn’t start out that way. I had several years of early childhood piano lessons and five music teachers. Despite encouragement, bribing, begging and yelling from my parents, I never really enjoyed playing piano the “note reading” way.

At 23 I had a chance encounter with the legendary swing pianist Floyd Domino. And that’s when I discovered you don’t have to be a note reader to have fun playing piano. Or even to make your living doing it. I began my quest to learn everything about pop piano playing. My list of mentors include Dr John and noted singer/songwriter Allen Toussaint, among others.

Among my many performing credits include performances either with or for Sawyer Brown and Sylvia (country); the Ventures, Fabian, Wolfman Jack (rock); and Bobby McFerrin (jazz).

I stopped doing in person workshops in 2014. I was comfortably retired, but I realized how much I missed teaching. With encouragement from a partner, I decided to come out of retirement and get back to teaching. The timing couldn’t be better.

When I was active doing workshops in person, I was limited by my traveling schedule and location permitting. Now thanks to the Internet and technology, I can impact millions of people around the world by doing my workshops online. 

My method is one of a kind and the culmination of years of learning from the pros and in-the- trenches playing. I share all my secrets in a three hour workshop that anyone can learn to play piano quickly. There might be imitators who try to spin off my method, but I will always remain the original creator.
